The Los Altos Academy of Engineering program is a student run program that offers opportunities to high school students to explore career paths through education, hands-on experience, training in vocational and business, and exposure to engineering and technology.
Having been established in 1989, there have been over 1000 graduated students, where we have given them a once in a lifetime opportunity to hands on education. In addition, many of our students have went on to prestigious universities, large corporations, and establish a name for themselvses in the engineering industry.
Our curriculum is centralized around math and science which takes the lead in student directed projects. From solar and electric powered cars to human powered airplanes, students use teamwork to design and complete large scale projects.
LAAE offeres a wide range of skills that can help students pursue a career of engineering out of high school. These include learning the fundementals of mechanics, workshop safety and management, web development, and much more. Students can practice these different skills through the 6 teams offered.
Most of our major projects rely on distict funding, PR’s fundraisers, and donations. If you wish to support our efforts to provide students with valuable engineering experiences you can, either contact us or visit us at Los Altos High School at RM A-14.
